Welcome to a series of blog posts where we profile some of our absolute favourite brands from the store.
Sass & Bide has been pride of place in my wardrobe since I was 18 years old. Many a week's rent were borrowed from my then boyfriend because I had spent my entire wage on new Sass & Bide purchases.
Any social media handle I still have that was started in the early 2000's is champagneandgod which was the style or collection name of one of my first ever purchases. It was a tee shirt. I'm pretty sure it set me back $60 (10% of my weekly wage at that time) and it was my pride and joy. Until my first pair of jeans a few weeks later. And then my next. And my next. And then finally some of their more high fashion pieces. Which were setting me back the better part of my entire weekly wage! But I got so much joy from those purchases - and from not looking like anyone else - that the weeks it would take me to get back on top after big splurges were totally worth it!
Sass & Bide helped me forge my identity in a world where I was pretty similar to every other 18 year old girl. It inspired me to work harder in my career so that one day my non-negotiable splurges would be less of a financial burden. And it opened my mind to the possibilities of fashion and the endlessness of my own creativity and sense of style.
Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clark were my style icons. The crazy ways in which they threw things together were unparalleled at that point. No one was doing it the way they were doing it. And it made you believe anything was possible if you allowed your own personality to shine through and be appreciated for the stylish, fabulous goddess that you really are.

And the comments I got from friends and relative strangers when I had put together my S&B in my own way reinforced that. And made me feel magical and appreciated for who I was.
The brand also has a really cool story. Heidi and Sarah-Jane started the label in the late 90s after being discovered selling customised jeans at London's Portobello Markets. The jeans still feature heavily in all Sass & Bide collections and are one of the most comfortable and coveted jeans in Australia today.
They led the brand for over 10 years, creating inspirational pieces and unleashing the imaginations of Australian girls and their mothers! It never ceased to amaze me (or give me a sense of pride) when you'd see mothers and daughters in the street both rocking Sass & Bide in their own individual ways.
The girls are natural born leaders. They create trends. They incite dreams and desires. Have you seen editorials on their home spaces? Even their interiors are glorious and aspirational.

In 2011 Myer acquired a majority share in the company and I was worried that the essence of one of my favourite brands was at risk of all the things that change brings with it. But I have been glowingly reassured by the fabulousness of the seasons from that point and the glorious reference points in various collections back to some of the S&B roots - the jeans are still soft, comfortable and the best damn fit you'll find on the market today, each season still contains a delectable range of crazy mix and match prints and the embellished tees and dresses still make my heart sing. And in more recent times the throw back to the quintessential Sass & Bide harness. My oh my did I love a Sass & Bide harness back in my day. I still have a number of them hanging lovingly in my closet.
All in all, Sass & Bide has been inspiring me to push my style envelope (and providing me with the goods to do it) for nearly two decades. Every piece has been a well-loved and adored investment piece. And I still wear some of the jeans I purchased 10 years ago (they've been a great incentive not to over-indulge each Christmas!). You can't put a price on the feelings and memories attached to the incredible pieces I own.
For this reason, I'm delighted to partner with Sass & Bide at Miko + Mollie. The team at Head Office in Sydney are delightful and adorable and they're incredibly passionate about what they do. My showing with them each season is one of the highlights of my job! They have a fabulous team of designers and I would say I'm so excited about what they'll be bringing us in future collections but I've seen what's coming in AW 2017 and I'm BEYOND excited! We look forward to bringing each fabulous outfit to you in its fullest glory.
